When Nick Baxter signs up for a class from the infamous Dr. Thomas Penstock, all he wants is the "A" he needs to get into law school. What he isn't counting on is the outspoken girl in his class Autumn Jones. When Autumn stands up on the first day of class and openly disagrees with Dr. Penstock, Nick is amazed, but also a little scared for her. Doesn't she know Penstock is the meanest, most narrow-minded professor on campus? He can't believe it when he actually convinces himself to stand up with Autumn and defend the beliefs they share.
Nick and Autumn begin studying together, preparing arguments for the discussions in Penstock's class. Autumn is like no one Nick has ever met, and as they spend more and more time together, he finds himself falling for her. There's just one major complication Autumn doesn't feel the same way. Autumn and Nick make a great team, but she is writing to a missionary and doesn't want to let go of that relationship.
When Nick is able to help Autumn with a family crisis, he realizes she really is the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with; but how can he compete with her perfect missionary? Will Autumn ever realize she and Nick could be more than just a good team?

This is a book about a young man finding his way. The story deals quite well with the issue of how a good person should deal with confrontations to their faith and the opportunities to share the Gospel in situations where it seems pointless. It felt quite realistic in how the story progressed and the pacing of it: Autumn and Nick are taking a college class from a liberal professor who is intent on hatefully indoctrinating every student in his classes: and their responses to him are realistically inept and puffed-up in the beginning, but adjust and improve over time. The author lets it flow through that without judging; just reports it. The story doesn't return to the progress of the professor as a result of his interactions with Autumn and Nick, just lets him slip out of the story with promises of what awaits him--like really does happen in life a lot, where we lose track of people and don't see the end of their story. The romance in the story works. Nick thinks that Autumn is far superior to himself and that she only regards him as a friend, despite plenty of evidence that she thinks highly of him as well, and would like their relationship to move forward. They communicate with each other a great deal, but have a hard time talking about "us", a future together, or how they can continue to be close to each other. The doubts and misconceptions they harbor about their self-worth and ability to remain friends (or more) ring true to life.
It is easy to connect with the characters. I really enjoyed this book.

It All Started with Autumn Jones edition by Jack Weyland Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Loved this book! Fun with a perfect mix of humor and romance along with the encouragement to stand up for your beliefs.
I don't get to just sit and read and frankly would rather just watch tv instead of reading. Not with this book. I read it cover to cover in a day! It was great and a quick, easy, relaxing read. Jack is a GREAT author. I suggest checking out "Brianna, My Brother, and the Blog" as well.
