A stunning Dragon Fantasy Series for all ages. A story of dragons and magic that you won't be able to put down!

In a world where they can be sung into submission by dragon charmers, people have forgotten the true power of dragons... but when feral red dragons sieze a royal prince, that power threatens everything.

Logan lives with Zared, and elderley and absent-minded wizard, in Shanoria - the Kingdom of the Dragons. His closest friend is Alyxa, a dragon charmer with the rare gift of soothing and commanding dragons. But not all dragons are tame, and when feral Reds kidnap the crown prince, Logan and Alyxa are thrust into a fast-paced adventure.

The growing interest in dragon books has been fed by an increasing number of books and movies about them. From the very young, to the young at heart, there are dragon stories to suit everyone.
Dragon Charmers is a series that may well suit a broad range of reading levels.
It contains no war, politics, religion or adult themes - it is simply a great adventure for all ages.

Mountains of Fire Dragon Charmers Book 1 edition by Linda McNabb Children eBooks

An book of adventure, dragons and magic, probably aimed at the young adult market but still an enjoyable read for all ages.
Logan is the most inept Wizard apprentice around, as every time he attempts a spell, it blows up in his face. His problems are not helped by his elderly master Zared, who seems to be becoming more and more senile. Zared insists that they must have lamps lit in every room all night and that Logan must never stand in a shadow, in case the mythical shadow dragons get him. While Logan is visiting his dragon charming friend Alyxa, and her new blue dragon, the King and his son also come to view the new dragon, when the feral and dangerous red dragons snatch the Prince and carry him away. The King insists that Zared does a seeing spell to find his son, but Zared is having one of his episodes and it is up to Logan to do the spell but Logan has not been able to do a simple spell, much less one as difficult as this one. Also the spell needs a White Dragon Heart, how is he going to get one of those? So begins his many adventures that opens a window on Logan's surprising past and his future. A good book, worth reading.

Mountains of Fire Dragon Charmers Book 1 edition by Linda McNabb Children eBooks Reviews

I loved reading this book because it is written so well.
I will be reading it again and again, it's that good.
Not worth it. One star for it is published
This series is really enjoyable. I love dragon stories (when the dragons are friendly to humans). The stories allow me complete relaxation and I am always anxious to continue on to the next book in the series.
I am a big fan of Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern, but I've read all her books. This is the closest plot with some of the characters of her dragons I've found.
Mountains of Fire is a great book, I love the story line. The characters Logan, Alyxa, Myles and Zared are great. I can't wait for the next book. A job well done Linda McNabb.
While the author had some good ideas for their fantasy world and for what could happen to their cast of characters, they lacked the skill (or inclination) to really develop either of these things.

Characters are not developed and no backstory is given for the world. There's no point at which the reader is given a framework or a setting in which to place events. Facts are given out as needed to advance the plot, and not until needed, which makes the story feel flat. There's no nuance, no character development, no particular reason why we should care about either the characters or their adventures.

The writing itself is adequate (not really good) and the editing acceptable with just a few uncorrected errors, but this is not "epic fantasy" because it's not "epic." All of the action takes place over the course of a couple of days, not enough time to form a connection with any of the characters, given the lack of any supporting details. The story is very linear--moves from A to Z as quickly as possible--which makes it boring.

It's an okay story for a 10 year-old, although I personally think the $2.99 price is too high for 100 pages of text.
However, this one is more suited for the younger reader. Oh, it's a decent read for an adult, but the young Heroes and Heroine will appeal more to the young ones.

Some proofreading errors, and the main young Hero is almost too naive to believe. The plot idea seems interesting, and the world building adequate, if a little sketchy. The character development needs a little work, as I didn't really feel much for any of them (except perhaps for some of the Dragons). This book was a little too short, which limited the action. Not much of an ending, but at least it wasn't a major Cliffhanger.

Overall--in my opinion I found it to be an "OK" read, even as an adult. Shows promise, but the writing isn't quite there yet.
